What Causes Snoring?
Persistent loud snoring can be an indication of obstructive sleep apnea (OSA), a condition in which the soft tissues of the mouth and throat prevent proper breathing during sleep. While loud snoring is bothersome, if it is caused by sleep apnea there can be significant effects on sleep quality and health to consider, as well. For those who believe they may be suffering with sleep apnea, the first step toward effective treatment is a sleep study performed by an experienced doctor. The sleep study allows the doctor to evaluate your breathing patterns, sleep interruptions, and oxygen levels to properly diagnose sleep apnea and determine which degree of the condition is present. Once a diagnosis has been made, treatment options can be considered.
At our dental practice in Los Algodones, Mexico we offer custom oral appliances—called the Silent Nite® sl—which are designed to treat certain causes of sleep apnea, reduce snoring and restore a restful night’s sleep. While the Silent Nite® sl is not the right choice for all individuals with sleep apnea (some require more intensive therapeutic solutions, such as a CPAP machine) this custom appliance has helped many of our patients improve their sleep quality and health. We are the only practice in the area that offers the Silent Nite® sl and we provide this appliance at a much lower price than dentists in the United States. Dentists in the U.S. may charge between $826 and $1,200 for the Silent Nite® sl, but our price is $550! A consultation with one of our experienced dentists (as well as a sleep apnea diagnosis from your doctor) is all that’s required to explore this treatment for yourself.
